Shopify CRO Audit — Why Visitors Don’t Convert
A free Shopify CRO audit of the pages where the money is won or lost. We look at what your best-selling product page actually asks a shopper to do, and where that ask breaks down. CRO-engineered, not decorated.
Traffic isn’t the problem
Most stores at this stage do not have a traffic problem. They have a conversion problem that traffic spending is quietly subsidising. Every point of conversion rate you leave on the table is paid for again in ad spend, every month, forever.
The audit looks at the pages that decide the outcome — the product page, the collection page, the cart — and identifies where the shopper is being asked to do something they are not yet ready to do.
What the report tells you
- Where the friction is, page by page, rather than as generic best-practice advice.
- What to test first — ordered by expected impact, not by how easy it is to change.
- What is costing you money right now versus what is merely imperfect. Those are not the same list.
- Evidence you can act on, written so a developer or designer can pick it up without a meeting.
What the CRO audit actually looks at
Not the whole store. Conversion is decided on four surfaces, and a report that grades all forty pages equally tells you nothing about which one is costing you money.
| Product page | Where the price, stock and delivery promise sit relative to the fold. Whether variant selection changes the URL. How many taps to add to cart on a 390px screen. |
|---|---|
| Collection page | Whether filtering is usable on mobile, how many products load before the first interaction, and whether sort order survives a back-navigation. |
| Cart | Drawer or page, whether shipping cost appears before checkout, and what the store does with an empty cart. |
| Checkout entry | The handoff itself — express payment placement, guest checkout visibility, and every field a shopper is asked to fill that Shopify could have inferred. |
Findings name the element and the page template, not the theme. “On
product.liquid, the delivery estimate renders 1,840px down on mobile — below
the add-to-cart button it is meant to justify.” Your developer can open that file and act.
What it will not tell you
This is a heuristic audit of what is publicly visible. It reads your storefront the way a shopper’s browser does, so it is honest about its own limits:
- It cannot see your analytics. No session recordings, no funnel data, no revenue attribution. Findings are ranked by expected impact, not by your measured drop-off.
- It does not run an A/B test. It tells you what to test and why. Proving the lift is a separate job, and a longer one.
- It cannot reach past login. Wholesale portals, customer accounts and anything gated stays unaudited, because an anonymous shopper cannot see it either.
Everything it does report, it reports with the evidence attached. If a check could not be completed — a bot challenge, a JavaScript-only render — it says so rather than scoring you badly for it.
Frequently asked questions
What is a CRO audit?
A structured review of the pages a shopper passes through before buying, identifying where they hesitate, get confused, or leave. The output is a ranked list of changes to test, not a redesign proposal.
How long does it take?
About 45 seconds to run. The report arrives immediately.
Do I need traffic data or analytics access?
No. The audit works from what is publicly visible on your store. If you want us to layer in your analytics and session data, that is the paid engagement, not the free tool.
Is this different from the SEO audit?
Yes, entirely. The SEO audit asks whether people can find you. This one asks whether they buy once they arrive. Different problem, different report — run both if you are not sure which one is costing you more.
Ready to fix what the audit found?
The audit tells you what’s broken. Fixing it is the part we’re actually paid for — conversion work, UX, A/B testing and the build work behind it.
